Biography

Although Rollo has been DJing for over ten years, It is only now, at the age of 26 he is starting to get the exposure and recognition he has been working so hard for. This promising nu-breed DJ from Israel has already managed to catch the attention of some of the world’s most evaluated DJ’s and producers.

Rollo’s love of house music began in 1990. Born and raised in Jerusalem, his first exposure to electronic music was from an early age, being a real radio fanatic, listening, recording and documenting every single that was aired. His passion for music was very strong and since then he knew what his goal in life would be.

Rollo admits: “I still spend all of my spare time in search of new music, always trying to find the next big record”

It was only a matter of time till his ambitions and dreams will get translated into real gigs. At the age of 19 he already held a residency slot at Jerusalem’s legendary club “Q”, and from that point the road was paved for him to show his musical skills in the most famous and popular clubs all over Israel: “Haoman 17″, “TLV”, “Alenbi 58″, “Octopus”, “Fetish”, “Vox”, to name a few. The past year saw Rollo moving to the next level and being asked to play abroad. Those international gigs took him from Croatia (“Rabac Summer Festival” 2004, 2005), through Turkey (“Republic”), and Norway (“Dirty Grooves”). He has also played with some of the world’s most leading DJ’s such as: Danny Howells, Desyn Masiello, Luke Fair.

…”I just want to play and share my love for the music with as many people as possible”

While many established DJ’s play specific style and/or genre, Rollo has managed to create his own sound that moves (to and) from a lot of different musical inspirations and genres such as: house classics, disco, soul, dub, funk, rock. Rollo doesn’t limit himself to one style. He strives to imprint his own identity and influences to take the music one step further. Consistently re-editing the music he is playing, making his sets fit the way he sees and feels his music should sound on the dance floor.

“I really try to make my sets a bit different from other DJ’s, to be as creative as I can and to use special edits, accapellas and effects in order to make it an exciting story as possible”…

2002 – 2005… Rollo has been hosting his own bi-weekly radio show: “Magnetic Grooves” on www.protonradio.com where he plays his trademark sounds: deep/sexy/funky/dirty/electro house music and hosts different DJ’s and producers from all over the globe: 16B (Omid Nourizadeh), Leon Roberts (King Unique/UBU), Demi (Deeper Substance), Djinxx (F-Communications) , Joris Voorn (Sino), Dennis DeSantis (Kanzlermt) etc’.

2005:After an intense year of hard work and preparations www.magneticgrooves.com is finally alive. Magnetic Grooves is Rollo’s new vision, where together with his best friends (Paul Wiseman, Desyn Masiello and Shmuel Ram) aims to bring the definitive online dance music site, offering a direct download of some of the best tracks from around the world in both .Mp3 and .Wav digital formats.

“The future of the electronic scene is on the digital formats, even now a days more and more well known DJ’s are playing from CD’s, That’s why we set this web site, to expose and push music we believe in”

2005: “Symphonic Records” being established by a world wide collaboration between 5 friends (Israel-England-Belgium). Symphonic was created out of a need for a label with initiative to turn out lasting music with substance as well as style. The first upcoming release: Uppfade – “Friday Loops” (Original/JheReal Mixes) has already been licensed to Luke Fair’s original series 03 (Bedrock) and Satoshi Tomiie’s “Es” compilations as well as Wize – “Again” which is getting major support from: Pete Tong, John Digweed and Danny Howells.

“We are real fanatic when it comes to music, always looking to find fresh new tunes and talented producers, keeping our eyes on every movement”

Rollo’s infectious personality and musical taste is what really puts him a step above a lot of DJ’s who are out there. You can really feel the connection and love that he is showing to the crowd while he is playing, It’s a pure love to the music…

The future is definitely looking bright for this promising talent as he continues to push the limits of house music.
